Roles and Responsibilities:
JOB SUMMARY: Position, rework, fit, and weld according to written and typed instructions, blueprints, manufacturer?s specifications, and knowledge of the characteristics of the metal. Select equipment and plan layout, fabrication, assembly, and welding.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Layout, position, align, and fit components together using applicable machines, tools, and equipment
- Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure them in position for final welding.
- Set up and weld parts using welding equipment.
- Maintain sufficient knowledge of geometry, arithmetic, structural design, heat effects, and allowances for the thickness of metal to project the location of holes, cuts and bends from blueprints, written and typed instructions, and manufacturer?s specifications.
- Use hand tools and be able to correctly set up and operate applicable shop machines.
- Perform arc and oxy-acetylene welding, cutting, and brazing on various ferrous and nonferrous metals, in accordance with established methods and procedures.
- Maintain production documentation per required procedures.
- Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
- Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.
- Verifies proper quality documents and other equipment paperwork is present before start of work.
- Completes Weld start-up forms, Weld maps and Weld logs for all items welded.
- Operates a forklift and lifting devices for the movement of parts.
- Communicates with the supervisor, 3rd party surveyors, customer representatives, engineers, production control, quality, and other shop personnel as it relates to the job.
- Necessary PPE should be worn at all times as per JHA and task requirements.
- Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly and performing basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.
- May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Lifting 40 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds
Qualifications and Education Requirements:

SCHEDULE: 5:00 AM TO 3:30 PM WITH OVERTIME EXPECTED ON A WEEKLY BASIS
TOP REQUIRED SKILLS:
- EXPERT IN GTAW-P PROCESS
- ABILITY TO READ AND UNDERSTAND WELD BLUEPRINTS AND DRAWINGS
- UNDERSTANDING OF HOW TO CALCULATE WELD THICKNESS BETWEEN FINISH
- ALL CANDIDATES MUST HAVE GOOD ATTENDANCE AS THEY ARE EXPECTED TO SHOW UP ON TIME EVERY DAY
- ALL CANDIDATES MUST BE FLEXIBLE TO CHANGING WORK SCHEDULES DUE TO WORK ORDER DEMANDS
MANAGER WILL HOLD A 1ST ROUND PHONE INTERVIEW AND THEN AN IN-PERSON INTERVIEW.
THE COMPANY WILL ADMINISTER A CERTIFICATION TEST AFTER THIS INDIVIDUAL IS HIRED. THEY MUST PASS IN ORDER TO CONTINUE ON ASSIGNMENT.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge in use of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments. Instruments should include but not limited to: calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gauges, indicators, and scales.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and understand the requirements.
- Previous experience in a heavy manufacturing environment a plus.
- Must be willing to communicate in English (both written and oral) as it relates to the job.
- Minimum 5- years experience with the Automatic GTAW-P process and Fabrication weld
- Must possess basic Math skills to include but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, and division for the purpose of measuring, calculating heat inputs and other functions related to the position.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have high school diploma or GED.
