Job Summary: This opportunity is onsite
Schedule: 14 days on/14 days off-12-hour shifts

Interpret and Integrate geological data and provide well-site geological support for drilling wells in oil fields. This Includes delivering optimized horizontal well bore placement, final well reports, updated horizontal well cross-sections, maps and formation evaluation logs for recent and previously drilled wells. Provide geological support for interdisciplinary reservoir study and field development plans. Develop and mentor less experience staff.


Job Description:

Roles and Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities of the Wellsite Geologist are supervision of all well site geological personnel and operations (e.g., mudlogging, Logging While Drilling (LWD), Wireline services, core handling/processing) and quality assurance of all geological data acquisition and reporting.
• Wellsite Geological Services:
• Geological monitoring.
• Monitoring and supervision of wireline and LWD logging operations.
• Monitoring of coring operation.
• Monitoring and supervision of mudlogging operations.
• Reporting responsibilities.
• Auditing geological services when appropriate.
• Well Completion Report Compilation and Distribution
• Coordination of Wellsite Geological Activities ("Operations Geologist"): Coordinate, monitor, and administer Company operated wellsite geotechnical activities.
• Pre-drill planning.
• Point of contact for third party geological services vendors.
• Monitor and coordinate wellsite geologic data acquisition and analysis activities; disseminate information to stakeholders; participate in regular teleconferences and meetings; review/verify invoices for geological services.
• Post-drill responsibilities include coordinating shipments of samples, logs, and reports as well as completing special/ad-hoc projects.
• Abnormal Pressure Surveillance
• Ensure all abnormal pressure parameters are monitored, captured on a pressure evaluation log, and reviewed with Company Operations Geologist and Drilling Supervisors as required
• Generate and distribute detailed reports compiling parameters, observations, and interpretation

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

High School Diploma with 10+ years of experience or Bachelors in Geoscience.
Rig Site experience
Onshore wells experience (preferably Wyoming Wells)
Experience including exploration & development (straight hole & deviated) well drilling with associated technologies (LWD, WL, Coring, & Core Handling)
Experience with drilling in carbonate reservoirs (Paleozoic-aged)
Required certifications must be current and not due to expire before December 2023.
Recent experience with major petroleum company is required.

Scope of Work specific to this Assignment:
Drilling program is expected to be comprised of 1 CO2 Injection well. The base case program is to drill 1 well starting in July 2023. Primary Geoscience interface with Drilling Rig Supervisors (Company Men), other rig-based personnel, and all Third-Party Geoscience providers (e.g., Mud Logging, LWD, WL, Core handling/processing) during drilling operations. Responsible for Quality Control of data (e.g., LWD, Mud Logging, WL, Coring, Directional control) and distribution of those data from Third Party Contractors. Monitor and determine relationship of geology to ongoing drilling operations, being able to provide immediate response to indications of Shallow Hazards, abnormal Pore Pressure, deteriorating hole quality, drilling performance/ROP, penetrations of targets).

Pay Range:
The pay range for this position is $90.00-$93.61.00 per hour; however, the pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This pay information is being provided pursuant to applicable law and is based in part on market location.
