Schedule:
Work Schedule: Mon – Friday (8am to 5pm) – every third Friday off
Work Mode: Hybrid (Minimum of one day a week required at work location)
Contract Length: 18 months (with potential to extend)


As a Projects Rotating Equipment Engineer, you'd be part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team supporting projects and you would be responsible for providing machinery engineering support for projects portfolio in a refinery/chemical plant environment. This includes supporting the fabrication, installation and commissioning of machinery equipment related to the project scope of work. Working closely with the construction organization, you will ensure that project execution meets all applicable HSSE standards and strives to achieve “Goal Zero”. The accountabilities of the role will include the following

o Job Description Technical Assurance and compliance of deliverables within the machinery engineering scope of work.
o Ensure consistency of Machinery design across all projects.
o Supporting EP contractor detailed design in the following areas:
o Rotating equipment design including selection of drives, coupling, gearbox, mechanical seal and bearing lubrication
o Ensuring compliance with HSSE considering Life cycle issues.
o Layout end equipment packaging
o Equipment controls and safeguarding requirements company standards
o Facilitate Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT’s) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT’s)
o Providing guidance to EP contractor on preparation of detailed equipment specifications.
o Managing technical interface issues between cross disciplines.
o Ensuring the employment of best practice work processes, design tools and fit for purpose technologies.
o Provide guidance for current corporate and industry standards including site procedures, applicable technical position statements and company best practices.
o Facilitate the variance and derogation process and assist with obtaining necessary approvals.
o Review and approve exceptions for approved suppliers and manufacturer
o Provide Quality Assurance (QA) support plans and strategies for Projects, including compliance support for the Scotford Quality Manual
o Coordinate/communicate local and corporate requirements in Projects, including the company’s Quality Management Plan.
o Facilitate knowledge sharing between executing projects, and the capture and implementation of lessons learned through causal learning practices and processes.
o Participation in process design reviews, Process Safety Reviews and contribute to the design HSSE case using control framework application.
o Application of Human Factors, Operability and Maintainability standards.
o Provide guidance on R.F.I. responses.
o Review and approve exceptions for approved suppliers and manufacturers.
o Support construction, commissioning, and start-up of scope of work and resolve issues arise in timely manner.
o Ability to authenticate (stamp) the work of others in accordance with APEGA guidelines

Requirements

Post-Secondary Engineering degree with 10+ years’ experience in Machinery Engineering
o APEGA P.Eng. a must
o Knowledge of Refining and Chemical operations.
o Proven capability to deliver operational excellence.
o Ability to initiate and encourage new ideas and approaches while challenging prevailing practices and paradigms.
o A strong people, technical and commercial mindset, innovative and results oriented.
o Effective Stakeholder communication and facilitation skills.
o Exhibits commercial curiosity to fully understand and explore value opportunities.
o Strong ability to organize and stay focused on key deliverables
o Knowledge of Machinery Standards, Technical standards and Safe Work Practices required.
o Background in Project Engineering an asset.
o Experience in contractor management, and front-line leadership an asset

Pay Range:
The pay range for this position is $50-89 (depending on contract type) per hour; however, the pay offered may vary depending on if you are an independent contractor or T4 employee, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This pay information is being provided pursuant to applicable law and is based in part on market location.
