Description

The Safety Specialist is primarily responsible for providing support to the Norco’s Project/Pit Stop organizations. This position will be responsible for assuring compliance in established safety processes and programs as well as being intimately involved in building HSE into Project/Pit Stop work execution. The intent is to assist in delivering incident/injury free construction of all sites related work. Will provide input to the Project/Pit Stop teams on personal safety exposures and mitigations. The Safety Specialist will support and report to the Project Safety Focal Point.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a communication and assurance link for personnel and contractors on field Safety & Health issues.
  • Works with Coordinators and Operations in facilitating safe field execution.
  • Works closely with all the Contractor Safety Representatives associated with Project/Pit Stop.
  • Helps achieve Zero incidents/injuries through the process of promoting auditing by each contractor group and performs auditing themselves on a regular basis.
  • Attend and roll out the safety requirements/expectations at contractor kickoff meetings.

  • Assist each contractor Safety Lead with accident/near miss investigations when needed.

  • Review and approval of the contractor’s specific Safety plans. Assures they meet the contractual obligations, and those plans are thorough, and fit for purpose. Audits to ensure that safety plans are followed.
  • Complete and develop JSEP’s for PRCS and High-Risk activities.
  • Oversee the regular auditing of safety training being delivered to contractor personnel to ensure that content and delivery meets expectations.
  • Consults with Safety subject matter experts (Safety/Fire Protection Engineer, Emergency Response Coordinator, Fire Chief, Industrial Hygienist, Technical Safety Specialists) in standardization of site safety hardware and procedures.

  • Attends and periodically leads weekly safety meetings conducted by the Contractors and their employees.

  • Conducts regular and frequent audits and inspections with contractors. The expectation is that data from audits is collected, analyzed, and reported to Project/Pit Stop management and contractor management to understand safety issues and ensure continuous improvement and goal zero performance.
  • Provide Safety support to design, and contractors as required.

  • Participates in Field Walk activities associated with all Project/Pit Stop.

  • Establishes a field presence and availability to address issues that need corrective action and assist with those corrective actions as necessary.
  • Works closely with constructors on resolving unexpected delays or issues as they come up during Project/Pit Stop.

Pay Range:

The pay range for this position is $40.00 per hour; however, the pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This pay information is being provided pursuant to applicable law and is based in part on market location.

Please Note:

Must have a valid driver’s license and current state required, minimum vehicle insurance coverage to drive onto Client and Company property.
