Description

Responsibilities:

  • This position has the primary responsibility of supporting the Printing and Packaging R&D team in Charlotte NC. The candidate will support formulation, application and testing of ink and coating binders for a wide range of applications.

Position is working in the Printing and Packaging Application labs. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with Product Development and Research Scientists to test new materials in the field of inks and coatings for the Printing and Packaging Market
  • Carrying out laboratory work independently for application testing of research inks and coatings samples
  • Carrying out instrumental test methods for coatings and inks applications. Develop the necessary knowledge of the equipment and procedures to provide expertise to internal and external customers.
  • Generate and collect application data and results from laboratory evaluations. Compile and interpret data and issue reports as required.
  • Maintaining and constantly improving the testing procedures for improved consistency
  • Generating ideas that improve the safety, efficiency and overall effectiveness of the laboratory and its team. Proactively establish and maintain a safe and healthy work environment and comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Performing maintenance and calibration activities required to maintain ISO compliance.
  • Assist other technicians in the completion of development projects as necessary.
  • Work together in project teams with colleagues from research, marketing and technical service

Qualifications and Education Requirements

BA/BS in physical sciences; preferentially chemistry or chemical engineering with experience with Coatings or testing of materials is preferred.

Requirements:

  • Minimum work experience - 3 years of laboratory focused experience
  • Experience with Coatings or testing of materials i
  • Experience in laboratory activity - performance experiments, familiarity with pH measurement, basic chemical mixing, basic chemical conversion and mass balance calculation is required-
  • Experience in vendor management - ordering materials, cataloging materials is a plus-
  • Experience in technical documentation desired
  • Basic knowledge of chemical instrumentation required
  • Basic knowledge of chemical compatibility required
  • Basic knowledge of chemical handling and chemical storage required
  • College level (Junior level) understanding of chemistry, physics and engineering required
  • Detailed oriented and with high sensitivity to timeline is a must-
  • Proactive in task management and ability to address/take care of basic laboratory facilitation
  • Experience in laboratory hygienes and chemical preparation and mixing hygienes

Must have a valid driver’s license and current state required minimum vehicle insurance coverage to drive onto Client and Company property.

Pay Range:

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00 per hour; however, the pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This pay information is being provided pursuant to applicable law and is based in part on market location.
